With appreciation of life well lived, the family of Donald Phillips, loving husband of the late Edith (Burgess) Phillips, grieve his passing which occurred on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Ridgewood Veterans Wing with his family by his side. Born on January 10, 1921, he was a son to the late Charles and Mary (Lynch) Phillips and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Donald joined the Canadian Armed forces in 1942. He was with the Carleton York Regiment which took him to many places overseas including Italy, Holland and France. After leaving the Forces in 1946, Donald worked as Head Shipper for Lockharts Building Supplies. In his retirement, they travelled and spent time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donald will be dearly missed by his children: Joan (Stewart) Cosman and Claire (Douglas) Hickman, his grandchildren: Jennifer (Richard) McFadden, Derek Cosman (Stacey Downey), Mark Cosman, Gregory Hickman (Dale Radoja) and Josh Hickman, great grandchildren: Maria and Isabella Cosman, Philip, Claire, Heidi and Lily McFadden, along with many nieces, nephews and members of his extended family. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 19 from 2-4 and 6-8 with a Legion Service beginning at 7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, December 20 at 11:00 AM from Sts. Joachims and Ann Parish, 135 Simpson Drive, Saint John, with interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
