Obituary of George Russell Hoyt

The death of George R. Hoyt of Saint John, husband of 44 years to Mona C. (Shipley) Hoyt, occurred on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, after a lengthy illness. George was born in Argyle, Carleton County, NB to the late Basil and Ella (Lindsay) Hoyt.

George was a labourer and pipefitter and someone who loved to play and watch the sport of baseball. He was always "Papa" to his grandchildren and you could always see the love his grandchildren had for him. To his friends, George was a man of a few nicknames but always the man who you could borrow a tool from for your latest projects. In his prime of life, you could often see him and is wife Mona at the local legion jiving the night away.

Besides his wife, George is also survived by his brother, Dale (Kathy) Hoyt, sons, Edward (Andrea) Hoyt and Kevin (Stacy) Hoyt; as well as grandchildren, Michael, Madeleine, Brady and Jacob. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends who will always remember how he could light up a room by simply being George. He was predeceased by his sister, Mae Campbell.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, West Saint John, with visiting on Monday, September 16, 2013 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, which will be immediately followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, all from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel.

For those who wish, remembrances made to the Lung Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
