Obituary of Audrey Mae DeWitt

Surrounded by her loving family, Audrey Mae (Ellison) DeWitt passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015, at the Saint John Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Audrey was born on May 12, 1949, in Harvey, N.B. She was a daughter of the late Richard and Gwennyth Ellison. Audrey is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Fred DeWitt, daughters Wendy DeWitt and Jill McKim (Ryan), grandchildren Kaitlyn DeWitt and Claire and George McKim, sister Nancy Wilcox (Richard), brothers Paul Ellison and Ronald Ellison (Helen), sisters-in-law Patricia Gougeon (Andre) and Pauline Branston (the late Don), eight nieces and three nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother Ralph Ellison and sister-in-law Donna Ellison. Audrey attended UNB Teacher's College, graduating in 1969. She taught at Kennebecasis Park Elementary School and various other schools in the Saint John area. A dedicated member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Audrey was a member of the Altar Guild and served as a Sunday School Teacher. Audrey was a very loving, open and kind person who cared deeply about her family. She appreciated the beauty of nature and the flowers in her yard were a work of art. She loved being outdoors, taking long walks and participating in her weekly yoga sessions. Audrey enjoyed gathering her family together for meals, and they all appreciated her excellent cooking. Audrey was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who would do anything for the people she loved. Her grandchildren were the centre of her world, and her smile was always brightest when she was spending time with them. The love she shared with us will live on in our hearts forever. She will be greatly missed. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Monday, April 27, 2015, from 7 to 9 PM, and Tuesday, April 28, 2015, 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM.
