Obituary of Hazel Lillian Jesso
With heavy hearts, the family of Hazel Jesso announce her unexpected passing on Friday, April 28, 2017 at her residence. Born October 8, 1925 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late George and Alice (Barwick) Harper. Hazel retired in 1991 from Woolworth’s, where she worked as a cake decorator for over 30 years. She also worked part time at the Odeon in her later years. Hazel enjoyed playing cards, travelling, especially with her daughter and son-in-law, to the sunny South. Hazel was also known for her special apple pies and her grandchildren were blessed with the best birthday cakes growing up, as well as wedding cakes. Hazel is survived by her daughters, Sharon Martin and Cecelia Tremblay (Allan); six grandchildren: Deb Tremblay (Chris), Brenda Ross (Mike), Wayne Martin (Bernice), Michelle Tremblay-Richard (Jason), Nicolle Grant (Troy), and Terri-Lynn Tremblay (Colin); 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Leotta and Lois. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers: George, Arthur, and Raymond; and her son-in-law, Jacques Tremblay. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 10 am from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.brenansfh.com.
