Obituary of Eileen Marie Jones
Eileen Marie Jones, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born in Cambridge Narrows, NB, on December 26, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Charles and May (Hamm) Fanjoy. Eileen attended Bible School in Newcastle Bridge, she was a faithful member of Kingsway Assembly for many years and loved her Lord. She was employed at the NB Protestant Orphanage before working at the Saint John Regional Hospital in the dietary department on the salad counter for 32 years until her retirement in 1986. Eileen enjoyed travelling with her daughter Norma, for dog shows and obedience trials for their much loved Shetland Sheep Dogs. She was a member of the Kennebecasis Obedience Club.
Eileen enjoyed visiting her Uncle Blake and Aunt Jean Hamm in Waterborough, NB, and her family in Maine. In later years, she was cared for by her good friend Rowena, who made it possible for Eileen to remain at home. She had a great sense of humor, a kind gentle spirit, strong and independent. She always spoke well of people. Eileen will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her.
Eileen is survived by her close friends; Rowena and Art Mayes, Kevin and Sandra Quigg, Sharon Yorke, and Paula Baun, cousins; Marion and Glen Raymond, and David Raymond, her much loved cat Julie, who brought her great joy, as well as several cousins and many friends.
Besides her parents, Eileen is predeceased by her daughter Norma Hamilton, and her infant sister Thelma Charlotte Fanjoy.
In keeping with Eileen’s wishes, there will be no visiting or funeral service. A graveside service will be held at Waterborough Baptist Cemetery, Waterborough, NB, at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Gideon International or to the SPCA.
