Obituary of Joanne Leona Yorke
It is with deep sadness that the family of Joanne Yorke of Morrisdale, cherished wife of James Yorke, announce her passing which occurred on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with her loved ones at her side. Born on May 24, 1952 in Woodstock, she was a daughter of the late Winston and Myrna (Johnston) Bull.
Prior to her retirement, Joanne was employed at the Saint John Regional Hospital as a Logistics Supervisor. This was a career she truly enjoyed and where many lifelong friendships were made. Joanne always took great comfort in her faith and was a member of Westfield United Church, where she was an active member of the UCW. Joanne loved surrounding herself in the beauty of nature and especially enjoyed biking, canoeing and in her earlier years playing baseball. Her creativity was present in her love of painting and creating art. Most of all, Joanne treasured the times spent making memories with her beloved family and dear friends. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband, James, Joanne will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Brandon Yorke (Kelly), Joel Yorke and Daniel Yorke (Rana); precious grandchildren, Taylor (Kyle Graham), Adrian (Makayla), Olivia, Hudson and Maya; special great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Callen; brother, Douglas Ellis (Darrin); sister, Donna Ellis; sisters-in-law, Judy (Rick) and Nancy (Frank); step-brothers and step-sisters; aunts, Joan Sophocleous, Phyllis Matthews and Anita Williams; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Malcolm Bull and Larry Bull and step-father, Robert Ellis.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) where visitation will take place on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.
