Obituary of Dion Matthew White
It is with broken hearts that the family of Dion Matthew White announces his passing which occurred on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in Petawawa, Ontario on June 8, 1964, he was a son of Dolores (Slaunwhite) White and the late Joseph “Joe” White.
Dion had a wonderful childhood and many fond memories of times spent with his brothers skating and playing hockey at the military rink. Dion was employed as a sales representative with Irving Oil for the last 5 years. Previously spending 15 years employed with Xerox where faithfully, he would volunteer with the Poppy Campaign which was a cause near and dear to him. Dion was passionate about the game of darts and had played at City-District and provincial levels. He was a proud member of the Bulls on Parade dart team. Dion enjoyed music…from progressive rock to Taylor Swift (and he was not embarrassed to be a Swiftie) and really anything in between. Dion always had a special place in his heart for his cats and all felines. Camping at Wally’s (22 years) was a huge part of Dion’s life. The park was Dion’s happy place, a place where he was a part of the group they called “The Top of The Hill Gang”, he enjoyed hours of shirtless yard work and the comradery of wonderful friends. Wally’s truly will never be the same. Dion always enjoyed coming up with the next “project” and simply enjoyed life as he was fun, full of life and famous for his “offside” jokes.
Dion leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Jean; sons, Justin, Gabe (Kennedy) and Alex (Emily); mother, Dolores; granddaughter, Cyan, who was the apple of his eye; brothers, Bob, Wayne and Darren; best and closest friends, Jimmy, Patsy, Mary and Wayne; fur babies, Chi-Chi, Tang, and Lilly; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to give a special thanks and their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and nurses of 4BS and 4CN, especially nurses, Karlie, Bailey, Jessica, Stephanie and Kenton. Also, thank you to the team of doctors that oversaw him the last 3 weeks. Dr. Cody Harper, thank you for your compassion and always taking the time to sit with us not only to discuss medical issues but to get to know Dion and the kind of man he was.
A special thank you to his co-workers and friends at Irving Oil, along with those who have reached out from Xerox…your support and kindness will never be forgotten.
