Obituary of Hans Joachim Langguth

It is with great sadness that the family of Hans Joachim Langguth announce his passing, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 18, 2025.  Born in Katzberg, Germany, January 27, 1940, Hans was the son of the late Erwin and Gerda (Probst) Langguth.

Before retirement, he had been employed with J.D. Irving Source Atlantic Motor Rewind for 36 years, and previously with John A. Kennedy Motor Shop for 20 years.  Hans was quite the handyman and could fix anything.  He was an avid gardener and grew the best tomatoes, onions and squash.  Neighbours would stop by to admire his garden.  He also enjoyed camping with his family.  His hobby was work; he was always busy.  Hans and Sandra took numerous trips to Germany to visit his cousins.

Besides his wife Sandra of 60 years, Hans is survived by sons, Steven (Andrea) Langguth, Barrie, Ont. and David Langguth (Liana), Woodbridge, Ont.; 2 grandchildren, Melissa and Myles, Barrie, Ont.; and brother, Walter, Saint John.  He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Carole Spragg, Saint John and Melody (Colin) Coady, Moncton; brothers-in-law, Brian (Linda) Spragg, Terrance Spragg and James Spragg, all of Saint John; nieces and nephews; as well as several cousins in Gorsdorf, Truckendorf and Eisfeld, Germany.  Hans was predeceased by his parents, Erwin and Gerda; sister, Marga Norris and her husband, George.

A special thank you to the staff at Extra Mural for all their help and kindness and to Home Care by Design for helping us take good care of Hans.  Thanks also to family, friends and neighbours for food, flowers and cards.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John where visitation will take place on February 11, 2025 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM.  A funeral service will be held on February 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM from Brenan’s Chapel with a reception to follow.  After the reception, the interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery, 200 Westmorland Road.
