Obituary of Carolyn Ann Deveau
It is with much sadness that the family of Carolyn Deveau of Saint John, loving wife of the late James “Sonny” Garnett, announce her peaceful passing which occurred on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at her home. Born on September 11, 1946 in Yarmouth, NS, she was a daughter of the late James Gavel and Reta Ganz.
Prior to her retirement, Carolyn was employed at the Saint John Regional Hospital, where she worked for several years in Food and Nutrition Services. In her younger years, she also worked at The Trade And Convention Centre in its hay day.
She was a proud and active Royal Canadian Legion Branch and Ladies Auxiliary member, serving in multiple positions, in multiple Branches, including Past President. She was a current member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69.
Carolyn could often be seen riding her scooter uptown in the better weather with her faithful sidekick, Red (Carolyn F). She also loved her day trips to Calais with Red and her little sister, Shaun.
She was an excellent cook and avid crafter. She was a lifelong fibre artist, enjoying knitting and crocheting the most. Carolyn was an insatiable reader and could rarely be seen without her e-reader, a magazine or a good old-fashioned book in her hands.
Carolyn will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Reisa Daley (Shelly); brother, Terry Ganz (Sharon); sisters, Ingrid McLeod (James) and Shaun Scribbans (John), nieces, nephews and special feline companion, Muggins.
