Obituary of Barbara May Robertson

The passing of Mrs. Barbara Robertson of Saint John occurred on February 17, 2025, at Kennebec Manor. Born in Saint John, N.B., she was the daughter of the late George and Alice (Blatchford) Thompson.

She is survived by her son Duane Robertson, two daughters Debbie (Fred) MacRae and Darlene (Eric) Nolan, three grandchildren; Ashley (Ryan) Breen, Tom (Katie Slater) MacRae, and Megan Scott (Darren Lennox), five great-grandchildren; Alice, Oliver, Hunter, Ember, and Aria. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Gordon Robertson, brother Sterling Thompson, son Donald, and infant daughter Sharon.

Mom was formally employed with Gandy and Allison Ltd. for many years and loved her job. She was a past president of the Saint John Singles Club for several years and at one time served as Treasurer of the Saint John Kinnettes. She was also a member of several senior groups, and the Tabernacle Baptist Church.

She was a very good cook and her baked goods were delicious. We especially enjoyed her cakes, sweetbreads, cookies, and fabulous squares. Mom had a quick wit that made us laugh. Our conversations always ended with an "I love you". She will be dearly missed.

In her younger years, she enjoyed ice skating on Lily Lake with her brother and father, dancing on Saturday nights, knitting, crocheting, tatting, playing card games, and there was always a puzzle set up to be completed on a card table. Our friends, family members, and neighbours were always welcome, she loved having people around.

Our family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Kennebec Manor for their exceptional care of our mom over the past two years. Especially the last few months.

Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. (506-634-7424), with visitation on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 11:00 AM in Brenan's Chapel. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery to follow.

Remembrances made out to the SPCA, Kennebec Manor, or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.brenansfh.com.
