Beverley Dykeman

Obituary of Beverley Doreen Dykeman

It is with broken hearts but with an appreciation for a life well lived that the family of Beverley Dykeman of St. Martins, cherished wife of the late Ronald Dykeman, announce her passing which occurred on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family.  Born on February 6, 1942 in St. Martins, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Mona (McNaught) Bradshaw.

Prior to her retirement, Beverley was employed as an executive assistant at Centracare.  Beverley took great comfort in the beauty of nature and especially enjoyed birdwatching and welcoming the chickadees and cardinals to her property.  Yearly, she would watch the path of the hummingbirds back to New Brunswick and record her first sighting.  Beverley loved her view of the Bay and looked forward to her Sunday drives through the Village to visit the caves.  She enjoyed photography, music and a good crossword puzzle.  She was quick-witted and was known for her dark sense of humour.  Beverley was also famous for her special one-finger salute as her family would wave their goodbyes.  Most of all, Beverley treasured the times with her loved ones and especially looked forward to creating wonderful memories with her precious grandchildren, who were her world.  She will be greatly missed.

Beverley will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Brian Dykeman (Norma), John Dykeman (Georgette) and Blair Dykeman (Tanya); grandchildren, Drake Dykeman (Nekole), Allison Dykeman and Lauren Dykeman (Connor); step-mother, Kathryn Bradshaw; as well as her cousin, Edward Bradshaw.  Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her special aunt, Hazel MacLellan (Joe).

Beverley’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of 4B North for their exceptional care.  Also, a special thank you to Rev. Canon Cathy Laskey for the pastoral care given to Beverley during her stay in the hospital.

In keeping with Beverley’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services.  A graveside service will take place in Mosher Hill Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral  Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint  John (506-634-7424).

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue.
