Obituary of Marilyn Vivian Rees
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the unexpected, yet peaceful passing of Marilyn Vivian Rees on Friday, March 7, 2025, Marilyn was born on August 26, 1939, in Minto, New Brunswick. She was a daughter of the late Clarence and Hatty (McLellan) Rollins.
After graduation, she moved to Saint John and worked at Civic Hydro for a few years before meeting her soul mate, Walter. Following their marriage Marilyn worked for over 20 years as a cashier at Kmart west, where she was well known for her friendliness and her kind and gentle demeanor. Marilyn also volunteered with Hospice and Palliative care for several years.
Anyone who knew Marilyn can attest to the fact that she was one of the kindest, sweetest, thoughtful, and caring individuals you could ever meet. She was involved in church ministries her entire life, mostly ones that involved baking and cooking, or serving in the kitchen. She loved to bless others with her delicious food, and she will definitely be remembered for her many acts of kindness over the years. If you ever did anything for Marilyn, you were sure to receive a lovely thank you note from her.
Marilyn loved her family with her whole heart, and she never missed a special occasion, even as her health began to decline, and writing became difficult due to arthritis. Her family will always treasure how special she made us feel.
Marilyn spent many years at Bethany Pentecostal Church, and the past several at Full Gospel Assembly, where she loved to attend worship each Sunday. She was a faithful follower of her Lord and Saviour, and she is now with Him - healthy, happy and reunited with loved ones.
Marilyn is survived by her son Brent (Jeannette), Kim (Jim), her two granddaughters Jordyn and Jessica, brother Terry (Ann), sister Ruth (Marshall).
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Walter, and siblings Howard, Willard, Paul, Hilda and Roberta, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). Visitation and a Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 8th from the Full Gospel Assembly. Visitation will be held from 12:00 - 1:45 PM with a Celebration of Life beginning at 2:00 PM, with refreshments to follow. Donations can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
