Obituary of David Edward Smith

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David Edward Smith, who passed away on March 26, 2025, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the age of 68.  Born on December 8, 1956, David grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick, where he graduated from Saint John High School in 1974.  He pursued further education at Dalhousie University and the University of Windsor before completing his business studies at NBCC Saint John.

David had a unique and vibrant personality, known for his modern thinking and artistic spirit.  He was regarded as the first hippie of Glenburn Court, embracing creativity, music, and photography.  A talented photographer, musician and artist, David had a keen eye for capturing beauty and a deep love for music.

He is survived by his sister, Judy of Stoney Point, Ontario; his brothers, Michael Smith of Bermuda and Andrew Smith of Saint John and brother-in-law, David Turk aka Bill of Barrington, Rhode Island.  He was predeceased by his parents, Bowyer and Carolyn Smith and his younger sister, Dr. Rachael Smith.

A service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM for David and his mother, Carolyn at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424).  David will be laid to rest alongside his parents in Fernhill Cemetery,

David will be fondly remembered for his artistic soul, independent spirit, and love for life.
