To Mary Lou (Mrs.Joyce), One fine lady to have had while attending MNHS in my last year I took my English 101 from her...Then we lost contact with one another until I arrived back at Our Lady of the Assumption...We would catch up and when we could...She was an amazing person all the around...And her faith kept her going when she lost her love of life her partner Bill... They are again together.. as they held many hands including their own and now we who are left behind get to hold onto her memories.. Rest Easy MaryLou (Mrs.Joyce). JJJARVIS

My heartfelt sympathy to all Mary Lou’s family. I was blessed to have been part of Mary Lou’s prayer group at one time. She was a lady “ full of grace”! She and Bill were always so gracious when you met them. May all the wonderful memories you shared with her bring you comfort as you mourn and grieve. God bless.I am saddened to miss her funeral liturgy, but I am out of the country.Donna

Mary Lou and John Farthing were my cooperating teachers at MNHS many years ago, and I could not have had two more inspiring teachers. Mary Lou’s knowledge of language arts helped so many students, especially those who struggled with reading. Students adored and respected her, as did I. She was a beautiful soul. My sincere condolences to her family. Mary Lou will never be forgotten.

What befitting tributes are being posted here to such a beautiful lady. We have so many treasured memories of Mary Lou from enjoying her hospitality following various nursing home singing gigs (St. Patrick’s ☘️ Shamrock Singers) to sharing stories and a good laugh in the churchyard with her and Bill after the 5 o’clock Mass on Saturday’s. What a duo and what an example of a life
well-lived!
Our condolences to Mary Lou’s family, her many friends and former students near and far…Anne, Stephen & Chris

I was at Millidgeville North High School from 1974-1976 and I didn't know Mary Lou...and here I am blessed to have become part of her extended families when I married Dan Cusack (son of Sally Kean) 35+ years ago. The tributes that are flowing on our Millidgeville North High School Alumni page are such a wonderful tribute to how she made a difference to so many. The only true worthwhile thing we can do while we're here is to make memories to leave behind for our loved ones. She not only left gifts of memories for her family, but also for so many students from so many years ago.
To Eunie and your families, we wish you many smiles and peace as you open the gifts of memories she's left for you. xooxxo

Mary Lou Joyce was more than a teacher. She was a confidant, a cheerleader and one of the sweetest ladies I ever knew. I was lucky enough to be in contact with her a few times over the years after my time at MNHS was done and she was always a huge supporter. You will be missed ❤️

I was saddened to hear the passing of Mary Lou Joyce. I was a student of hers at MNHS many years ago. I have always remembered her fondly. Her quiet grace calmed even the most restless teenagers in the room. We all listened. Because we wanted to hear. Mrs. Joyce helped foster my love of (good) literature and an appreciation for the art of writing. Not just writing anything, but writing in a way that MATTERED. In addition, Mrs. Joyce helped cultivate my curiosity for more than just novels or other prose that the mainstream was feeding me… leading me on to a lifetime habit of reading every day. Her legacy truly lives on.

Mary Lou and Bill were both angels to our family and the sweetest souls ever. We enjoyed many visits and New Years together. I will cherish these memories and be forever grateful to their kindness to my mom and dad . (Brian and Sandy). I enjoyed our last visit together and the sweetest souls ever detailed memories of their time together . She left such an impression on my own kids who talked about how kind she was. I know she was welcomed into Heaven by our Lord and savior.

Mary Lou embodied the strong, independent, yet kind and compassionate women in her family. She and Bill were a wonderful pair and as a woman of faith she would see this final chapter of her life not as and ending but as a new beginning. God bless you Mary Lou.

Mary Lou was a gentle, kind woman but when she was my teacher at MNHS she was a dynamo and even the biggest brutes didn't mess with Mrs. Joyce. I say that with a smile because she was such a diminutive lady. She coached our debating team and we were always extremely well prepared. She set high standards for us and we always worked to meet her expectations. She brought out the best in us. I will always remember her fondly.
