Obituary of Shirley Theresa Moore

With heavy hearts and an appreciation of a full life, Shirley Moore’s children announce her passing, which occurred on Friday, April 11, 2025, at her residence in Kennebec Manor. Born June 21, 1931, in Charlottetown, PE, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Eva (Buote) Nickerson.

Shirley’s faith was always close to her heart, and she is a former CWL member. She loved travelling back to PEI to visit family and what was her home province until 1949. She showered others in gifts of knitting and cross-stitching, which family and friends will cherish for years to come.

Shirley is survived by her son, Don Moore (Myra) of Quispamsis; daughter, Beth Casey (Joe) of Halifax; granddaughters, Jessica Churchill (Brandon) and Jennifer Shannon (Adam); step-granddaughters, Denise Lowe (Jason) and Karen Gover (Stephen); great-grandchildren: Renée, Jack, Kennedy, and Max; step-great-grandchildren: Chelsea, Vaiden, Audrey, and Austin; step-great-great-granddaughter, Indy; her sisters: Marjorie Marsten, Helen “Babe” Bonner, and Barb Munroe (Bruce); as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, William James Moore; sister, Mary McGowan; and brother, Donald, in infancy.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Kennebec Manor for the care and kindness given to Shirley over the last six years.

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424), where visitation will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Redeemer Parish (St. Pius X), 316 Somerset Street on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 11 am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

For those who wish, remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
