Obituary of Willie McMonigle

The death of William “Willie” McMonigle, loving husband of the late Janice (Small) McMonigle, occurred on Monday, April 14, 2025 at the Charlotte County Hospital.  Born on October 19, 1941 in Scotland, he was the son of the late William and Mary (McLaren) McMonigle.

Prior to his retirement, Willie had a long working career at the Saint John Drydock.  He was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.  Willie also enjoyed watching sports on television and in his younger years he played semi-professional soccer in Scotland.  He will be remembered for the love that he had for his family and friends and for the comfort that life’s simplest of pleasures brought him.

Willie will be lovingly missed by his daughter, Maryanne McNamara (Chris); step-daughter, Ellen Belyea; precious grandchildren, William and Christopher McNamara, sister, Tilda McMonigle; special nephew, Stewart McKinnon; as well as several other nieces and nephews.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.  A graveside service will take place at a later date.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424).
