Obituary of Ann Marie Grant
Surrounded by family Ann Marie Grant died unexpectedly on April 22, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was 79 years old and was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Dennis Wayne Grant. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by her sudden death. Born on March 25, 1946, in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Grace (Hetherington) Hansen.
Ann Marie was an extremely dedicated and caring wife, mother, grandmother, who was deeply loved by her family. She is survived by her son James Daniel Grant (Stephanie), son Adam Wayne Grant; daughter Lori Marie Grant; granddaughter, Jaimi Nicole Grant; siblings Doug Hansen, Sandy Hansen (Heather), Theresa Hayward (Ken), Gwen Hansen (Steve) and Heather Stewart; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Along with her parents and husband, Ann was predeceased by brothers Victor, Ronnie, Jack and Bobbie and sisters Donna and Sandra.
Ann Marie met the love of her life Dennis Grant during high school in 1963. Her first job after high school was at the Golden Ball for Irving Oil in data entry, a job she kept and worked at for 40 years. Ann loved working at Irving and was close to her co-workers. At Saint James Church in Saint John, for many years Ann Marie was a member of the Ladies’ Guild.
Ann Marie truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was extremely proud of her husband Dennis who was a Captain with the Saint John Fire Department. Prior to her more recent mobility issues, she enjoyed cooking and travelling. She loved to read, and often times finished one book or novel per day- many hundreds of books (books of various genres) per year. Ann Marie was always very easy going and pleasant to be around, and she always had a very bright and positive attitude about everything, even about the most trying of things. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Thank you to all to offered help and support during Ann Marie’s recent illness.
