Obituary of Eva Dorothy Quigley
It is with profound sadness, the family of Eva Dorothy Quigley announces her peaceful passing at the age of 100 years at the Kings Way Care Centre on Monday, April 28, 2025. Eva was born in Sussex, New Brunswick on December 3, 1924, the daughter of the late Ottie and Florence (Pace) Lewis and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Eva was a very private person and central to her life were her family and deep faith in God. She was a very loving wife and mother and worked tirelessly raising her family of twelve children. Although she had very little time to herself, especially while her family was young, she could be found in the early hours of the morning reading her bible. Eva loved to sing and her children would often awake to her beautiful voice. She was a very faithful and religious person involving her family in her church. She taught Sunday School and Bible Camp, often having grandchildren in attendance. In her spare time, she enjoyed needlepoint and visiting with her extensive family.
Eva is survived by her 10 children: Douglas (Wanda), Lorraine Reid, William, Judith Price (John), Linda Robinson (George), John (Beth), Janet Chiswell (Paul), Valerie Marshall (Robert), Richard (Debby), and Patricia Marr (Brian); 25 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Eva was predeceased by her husband, Charles; two sons: Charles Jr and James; three grandchildren: Karen, Anthony, and Joel; sisters: Leila, Violet, Hazel, Muriel and Ruth; brothers: Freeman, George, Gordon and Clarence.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the amazing staff and volunteers of Kings Way Care Centre in Quispamsis for their exceptional care of Eva over the past 9 years.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. (634-7424). On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, there will be visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.BrenansFH.com. Donations in memory of Eva may be made to Kings Way Care Centre, Alzheimer Society of Canada, Salvation Army or a charity of the donor’s choice.
