Obituary of Joan Mabel (Stevens) Cadieux
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our Beloved Mother Joan Mabel Cadieux at the SJRH on May 17, 2025. Born on April 10, 1939 in St Stephen N.B., she was the only daughter of Hebert Moore Stevens and Mary Louise Stevens (Getchell).
Mom reached out to Dad’s hand extended from heaven to help her transition to God’s Kingdom, knowing that she was loved and cherished by all her children, grand-children and great grand children. Growing up Joan often tagged along with her brothers James (Jimmy) and Robert (Bobby) having fun together while they watched out for their little sister.
At the age of 18, Joan met and married our wonderful father, Michael Morley Cadieux, a Canadian Forces Seaman in basic training at CFB Cornwallis Navel Base in Nova Scotia. Mom gave dad four beautiful loving girls. Joanne, Michelle, Danielle and Nicole. Joan was a stay at home mom, loving and raising her girls. As the girls got older, Joan went to work for Zellers and was there for many years, where she met and worked with many friends
After her retirement, Joan helped out her girl preparing meals for the Hot Lunch Programs for Elementary Schools in the Saint John area.
Joan was predeceased by her loving husband and soul mate, Michael Morley Cadieux, Parents Hebert and Mary Stevens and brothers James and Robert Stevens.
Joan is survived by her immediate family, daughters Joanne Rose (Kevin) Quispamsis N.B, Michelle Cadieux, Upper Golden Grove N.B, Danielle Bennett (Joseph) Kingston N.B. and Nicole Cadieux (Todd Smith) of Vernon B.C., Grandchildren Christopher C, Alexandria, Michael (Rowena), Christopher R (Rachel), Samantha and Great Grand-Children, Hunter, Kylie, Lexie, Sophie, Marcus and Matthew.
The family would like to thank all the staff of 3C North and 5C South for the exceptional care of our mother while she was in their care.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. In keeping with Joan’s wishes there will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm followed by a private Family Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Society and Heart and Stroke Foundation.
