Dear Tante Netty and Family,
I extend my heartfelt condolences on the loss of Uncle Mel. He was a wonderful man, always wearing a smile.
One of my earliest memories of Uncle Mel is from a visit my mom and I made to Saint John by bus. City living was all new to me — things like locks on doors, especially a bathroom door, were a mystery. (We didn’t have an indoor toilet at our home on PEI!) I was probably around five years old, and in my curiosity, I managed to lock myself in the bathroom. Dear Uncle Mel came to the rescue.
I also remember him meeting us at the bus station and taking us to our new home when we moved to the big city of Saint John. I’ll always be grateful for the love and kindness he showed us.
My thoughts have been with you all over the past few weeks. I only wish I weren’t so far away.
