




Obituary of Merle George MacDonald
It is with great sadness that the family of Merle George MacDonald announces his passing which occurred at the Loch Lomond Village on Monday, June 9, 2025. Born in Shippagan, NB, on November 14, 1928, he was a son of the late Wilbur and Marjorie (Morrison) MacDonald.
Merle was a pharmacist and spent most of his career as the Managing Pharmacist at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Merle leaves behind his daughters, Heather Duncan (Ross) of Rothesay, NB, and Margarite MacDonald of Burlington, Ontario; grandchildren, Carolyn Duncan, Jonathan Duncan, Jaggar MacDonald; great-granddaughter, Piper James MacDonald; daughter-in-law, Jill MacDonald of St. Petersburg, Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Merle was predeceased by his wife, Esther (Michaelsen) MacDonald; son, Captain James MacDonald; as well as his brothers and sisters.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). In keeping with Merle’s wishes there will be no visitation, and a Graveside Service and Committal will be held at a future date to be announced. Donations may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
