Obituary of Suzanne Helene (Kelly) Lemak
Suzanne Helene (Kelly) Lemak passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, just two days shy of her 77th birthday.
Suzanne was born on June 10, 1948, in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Joe, her elder brother, Bob and his wife, Brigitte.
Suzanne lived a life defined by dedication, leadership, and vibrant energy. A hard-working, positive person with an unwavering commitment to service, Suzanne built a fulfilling professional career as a medical technologist, contributing her expertise to hospitals in Canada and the USA. Her impact extended far beyond the laboratory through her passionate advocacy of research in juvenile diabetes.
Suzanne held many leadership positions in Kiwanis Clubs and divisions, as well as at the international level. She served as governor of the New England & Bermuda District in 2006-2007, held leadership positions in the Ohio and Eastern Canada and the Caribbean Districts, and was Kiwanis Builders Club chairperson for Kiwanis International for several years.
Her dynamic presence and steadfast enthusiasm left a lasting impression on every initiative she touched. Whether organizing community programs or mentoring fellow members, she brought purpose and vitality to all her endeavors.
Those who knew Suzanne will remember her tireless spirit and unwavering commitment to making a difference. Her enduring legacy is the many lives she influenced through both her professional work and volunteer efforts.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honour Suzanne’s memory on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (ADT) at Key Industries – Kiwanis Club of Saint John, located at 239 Charlotte Street, Saint John, NB, Canada. For those unable to attend in person, an online ZOOM link will be provided at a later date. Suzanne’s friends and family who plan to attend in person or remotely are requested to RSVP to kiwanisjoe2joe@gmail.com . A reminder and link will be sent in advance of the event.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the causes close to Suzanne’s heart. Members of Kiwanis may honor her legacy by supporting the charitable efforts of your clubs and districts, or with donations to Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs. Other family and friends are invited to donate to the charity of your choice.
Rest well, Suzanne. You made the world better just by being in it.
