Marjorie Phillips

Obituary of Marjorie Mary Elizabeth Phillips

It is with great sadness that the family of Marjorie Mary Elizabeth Phillips announce her passing on June 18, 2025, in the comfort of her home. Born August 26, 1935, in Saint John, N.B., to the late Thomas and Hazel (Burns) Rankine.

Survived by her children; Robert Phillips, Allen (Rachel) Phillips, Wayne (Jennifer) Phillips, and Joy (Barry) Stevens, sister Joan (Joseph) Speight, sister-in-law Thelma Rankine, grandchildren; Morgan, Shannon, Sheldon, and Sydney, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. Besides her parents, she will be lovingly reunited with her brother William “Bill” Rankine.

Marjorie’s true passion in life was being a stay-at-home mom – so much so that she spent numerous years providing a safe and secure home for many foster children who she loved like they were her own. All who knew Marjorie loved her, she was one of the nicest and genuine-spirited people you could’ve had the pleasure of knowing. Most often you would find her curled up on the couch watching her favourite TV show, crafting, or spending time with her family.  We will miss you dearly, Mom.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). In keeping with Marjorie’s wishes, no formal services will be held. A private interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

For those who wish, memorial contributions can be made out to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Online condolences may be shared at www.brenansfh.com.
