Obituary of Brian Gregory Oliver
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Brian Oliver announces his passing at his residence on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, at the age of 62.
Born in Saint John on July 22, 1962, Brian was the beloved son of Greg and Betty (Laird) Oliver. He grew up in the North End of Saint John on Park Street Extension, a place that shaped his strong roots and lifelong work ethic. Brian began his career as an insulator with Local 131 at the young age of 15, dedicating himself to the trade for nearly five decades.
Brian had an appreciation for nature and was nurtured by his mother, Betty, and remained a constant throughout his life. He cherished the simple joys of the world around him and took pride in passing that love on to his children and grandchildren. He found a quiet peace in his yard—feeding the family of ducks that lived there for years, watching birds nest in the shed’s stovepipe, gazing out over the ponds, and admiring the natural beauty of the Kingston Peninsula.
He could often be found in his shed, tinkering away—whether working on a new project, lending a hand to family and friends, or fixing something he had managed to break himself. He was always there to lend a hand to anyone that needed it.
Brian will be lovingly remembered by his children: Adam Oliver (Kat), Elizabeth Delaronde (Matthew), Amanda Nielsen (Illya); his grandchildren: Ciara, Mya, Xander, and Kian; and his great-granddaughter, Inara. He is also survived by his siblings: Joan Darrah, and her children Brian (Danfeng) and Tammy; Wayne Oliver, and his children Laura and Rob; and Heather Butler (Dennis), and their children Kelsey and Jordan. In addition to his parents, Brian was predeceased by his sister Paula, brother Larry, brother-in-law Danny, and sister-in-law Nancy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). Visitation will take place at Brenan's on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, beginning at 12:00 PM with interment to follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
Should you wish, memorial contributions in Brian's memory can be made out to the Canadian Cancer Society or a donation of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be shared at www.BrenansFH.com.
