Obituary of Ann Marie Sullivan-Vautour

Ann Marie Sullivan Vautour passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, with her family by her side, just three days after celebrating her 90th birthday. She now joins her beloved husband of 60 years, Jean Vautour, whom she cared for devotedly in his later years and missed deeply after his passing.

Born to the late Mark Sullivan and Mary (née Duggan), Ann Marie was a loving mother to Cathy, Jean, and Charles Gerard, and a cherished grandmother to Sean Watson. She is survived by her sister Margaret Record and predeceased by her siblings Doreen Mulholland, Kay Clark, John Sullivan, and Harold Sullivan.

After marrying her high school sweetheart, Ann Marie embraced her new life, following Jean to various places, including Montreal, Kapuskasing, Ottawa, and back to Montreal, before finally settling in Aylmer, QC. Though primarily devoted to her family, she remained actively engaged in her church and the greater community. A dedicated volunteer, she contributed her time and talents to numerous organizations, including Scouts Canada Headquarters in Ottawa, Aylmer Heritage Association, and the Canadian Cancer Society, where she served as the local organizer in Aylmer. She also played a key role in fundraising events associated with her husband’s activities. As a proud member of the Engineers’ Wives of Ottawa, Ann Marie participated in many social activities and initiatives, including organizing an annual bursary for engineering students. She also had a deep love for literature and enjoyed sharing her passion through monthly book club discussions.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of the 3rd floor at CHSLD Vigi de l’Outaouais, who provided Ann Marie with exceptional care over the past three and a half years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 8, 11:00am at Stella Maris Church, 201 Bayside drive, followed by an interment at St.Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, the Fondation Québécoise du cancer (Québec Cancer Foundation), or a charity of your choice.
