Obituary of Marie Anne Lucretia Noël

With heavy hearts, the family of Lucretia Noël, wife of the late Cecil Noël, announce her passing at the Loch Lomond Villa on Monday, February 26, 2018. Born November 25, 1921 in Beaverbrook, NB, she was a daughter of the late Telesphore and Ida (Boudreau) Melanson. Cecil and Lucretia married and moved to Saint John in 1943. She was a member, and Honourary Past-President of Legion Branch 64, where she volunteered time fundraising with dinners, as she was an excellent cook. Lucretia loved summer travels with her brother and sisters and her children. She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother and her family will miss her dearly. Lucretia will be missed by her children: Jeannie Hayward (Jerry) of Burton, NB, Jocelyn Mosher (Tom) of Oak Bay, NB, Ron Noël (JoAnne) of Hammond Plains, NS, and Jacinta Gallagher (Greg) of Rothesay, NB; brother, Edwin Melanson (the late Betty) of Moncton, NB; sisters: Carmel "Carm" Thorne (the late Walter) of Pickering, ON and Gerarda "Gerry" Staples (the late Joseph) of Laval, QC; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers: Godfrey and Randolph Melanson; and sisters: Yolande Melanson and Leonile Knapp. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, March 1, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, with a Ladies Auxiliary Legion Service being held during visiting at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Church, 31 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay, on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11 am, with interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Romero House, Legion Branch 64, or the Cathedral Restoration And Waterloo Village Revitalization Projects would be appreciated by the family.
