Obituary of Verna Marie Yoston
It is with appreciation for a life well-lived that the family of Verna Marie Yoston, loving wife of Gordon Daniel Yoston, announces her passing, which occurred peacefully at Bobby’s Hospice on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, surrounded by those she loved. Born in Geary, NB on February 8, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Hazel (Freeze) Fournier.
Verna always enjoyed dancing and going for walks with her special friends Bev and Lena. She will miss spending time with her dog Parker, and relaxing on her patio. But above all, Verna was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who loved spending time with her family.
Verna will be missed by her husband Gordon of 28 years; her children, Dorothy Sutton (George), Brian MacKenzie (Hope) and Avard MacKenzie (Mary); her step-children, Pam Morton (Bruce), Terry Yoston (Amanda), Lynn Yoston and Gail Yoston (Terry); her grandchildren, Kara (David), Arthur (Courtenay), Laura (Aaron), Thomas (Sheena), John, Jeff, David, Chris and Justin; several great grandchildren, including Nolan, Hudson and Layla; her sisters, Olive Oram (Ron), Alice Vicars (David), Gloria Davis and Pauline O’Rourke (Karl); brothers, Daniel and Doug (Beverly); as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents, Verna was predeceased by her siblings: John, Charles, Bruce, Roberta and Helen.
Verna’s family would like to extend a special "Thank you" to all of the wonderful staff and volunteers at Bobby’s Hospice. You all made a very difficult time easier, not only on Verna but also on her family. Your compassion and care will not be forgotten.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) where family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, March 16 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, March 17 at 1:00 PM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
