In his early years, he was employed by Hudson McMackin, and then by St. Joseph's Hospital for 27 years, retiring in 1993, as Assistant Administrator. He served on the boards of the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, the Saint John School of Nursing, Fundy Linen, Saint John United Way, New Brunswick Arthritis Society, as well as with the Sister's of Charity. Besides his wife, Jack is survived by his four daughters, Jacqueline Connell-Vail (Geoffrey), Karen Jones (Derek), both of Saint John, Colleen Flathers (Wayne) of Nanaimo, BC, and Jennifer Connell at home. The children gave him great joy. Jack is also survived by his two sisters, Mary Jean Cromwell (Noel) of Saint John, and Patricia Lockhart (David) of Hampton, his aunt, Jean Connolly of Saint John, five nephews, one niece, and several cousins.
