Gordon: I realize this message is sent during a difficult time for the Messer family and I extend sincere sympathies to you and other family members. I believe you played soccer for Simonds High School on a rainy afternoon in October or November of 1958 against Minto High School. I was a member of the Minto team but watched the game on crutches (having suffered a broken foot in an earlier playoff game aganst Bath or Perth High School. I have gotten into genealogical research in a big way for the past 25 years and apart from finding relatives, the obituary notices also enable me to identify people with whom I have crossed paths some time in my life. I was also a member of the Minto basketball team during the 1958-59 season when we played in the NB high school tournament at UNB but I don't recall Simonds participating in that tournament. Minto lost its two games against Edmundston and Moncton High School teams. In closing I pray that God will comfort all Messer family members with His peace. George Richard

When my family moved to Champlain Heights in the early 70's, my mother told me about a great family in the neighbourhood with a daughter my age. We quickly became the best of friends. Now 45 years later, I admire more than ever the values and the warmth that clearly ran through Vic and Betty's home and family. Vic's calm and quiet strength will not only be missed by his family, but by me and my family as well.
