Obituary of Edward John Connell
The death of Edward John Connell, of Saint John, NB, husband of Doris M. (Smith), of Saint John, occurred peacefully at home on Thursday, January 16, 2003. Son of the late Joseph and Lena (LeBlanc) Connell, he was born in Saint John, NB. Ed received his education at St. Vincent's Boy's High School. His career with the Public Service of Canada exceeded 40 years, ending with his retirement from the Saint John office of Canada Manpower and Immigration in 1981. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris, four sons: Brian (Elaine) of Fredericton, NB, Kevin (Henrietta), Wayne (Carol), and Bruce (Nancy), all of Saint John, as well as one brother, Arthur of Saint John, one sister, Dorthea Moore of Halifax. In addition to eight wonderful grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Emily, Kelly, David, Rachel, Timmothy, and Kathlene, several nieces and nephews also survive him. He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth, and a sister, Helen Stanton. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506) 634-7424, with visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18, 2003 at 10:00 AM from St. Pius X Church. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances to Hospice of Saint John Inc., or to the Children's Wish Foundation would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
