Obituary of Joan Louise Hansen

Hansen, Joan Louise – It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joan Louise Hansen announce her peaceful passing on May 12, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on December 26, 1931 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late G.S. "Pete" and Marguerite (Cronin) Hansen. Joan taught for a short time in Richibucto. She lived in St. Catherine’s ON before her life-long career with the Catholic Children’s Aid Society in Toronto where she touched the lives of many families. She enjoyed hiking and traveling with her many friends and sister, Peggy. Joan’s home away from home was her cherished summer cottage on Kennebecasis Island. Joan held a huge appreciation for the Arts. She was known for her generous spirit and fun loving ways. She will be missed by all who knew her. Joan will lovingly be remembered by her sisters, Patricia Marie Hansen and Margaret Jean Nadeau (Raymond); nephew, Peter Nadeau and nieces, Patricia Nadeau-Sangster and Michele Nadeau. Joan was predeceased by her parents. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John with visitation on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM from St. Peter’s Parish, 50 Clarendon Street, Saint John. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the local SPCA, Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
