Obituary of Lillian Geneva Brittain

The death of Lillian Geneva Brittain occurred on September 29, 2002, at her residence, Rocmaura Nursing Home, Saint John, NB. Born in Fredericton she was the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Yeomans) Staples. She was a bookkeeper having worked for Bearisto's Heating and Plumbing Ltd. in Fredericton and the Coal Operators, Minto before her retirement. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Minto, and member of the IODE, Minto. She is survived by her sons James and his wife Betty of Ottawa, Robert and his wife Christine of Saint John, Bill and his wife Barb of Ottawa, her sister Berla McSorley and her husband Denny of Amherst, NS, her eleven grandchildren, Dawn McLeod-Brittain, Eric McLeod, Christopher, Jonathan, Andrew, and Michael Brittain, Alan, John, Kate, and Michael Thorley, and Sara Titus, four great-grandchildren, her special friend Joyce Austin of Fredericton, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Charles and George Staples and her sister Nel Colwell (Mrs. Walter Colwell). Although there will not be visiting, following cremation at Brenan's Select community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), the funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. from St. John's Anglican Church, 75 Main Street, Fredericton North, NB. Interment will take place in St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Fredericton, followed by a reception in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Rocmaura Nursing Home, 10 Park Street, Saint John, NB, or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
