Obituary of Nina Martina Poirier
The death of Nina (Burns) Poirier, formerly of Cranston Avenue in occurred Wednesday, October 9th 2002 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late John and Veronica (O'Leary) Burns. Nina was a past president of the Holy Trinity and St. Pius X Church C.W.L. as well as, C.W.L. involvement in several other parishes connected to her place of residency throughout her life. She was a past president of the St. Vincent's Girls Alumnae Association, a member of the New Brunswick Teacher's Association and a member of the Union Club. Nina is survived by her only daughter, Elizabeth (Dr. James Elliot) of Winnipeg, MB and grandson Mark Pierre Larmond of Ottawa, ON, brother Patrick J. Burns of Fredericton, NB, sister Gertrude Hanley of Saint John, NB, sister-in-law Florence (Billie) Burns also of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by, her husband Pierre W. Poirier, brothers Joseph T., Francis L., and Maurice S. Burns and sisters Mary Eugenie van Oudenol and Anna Yvonne Burns. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424) with visiting Friday October 11th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday, October12th 2002 at 10 am from St. Pius X Church. Following cremation, interment to take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery on Sunday, October13th 2002 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made as spiritual offerings or to the charity of donor's choice.
