Obituary of Star Elizabeth Rattray

The death of Star Elizabeth (Crowley) Rattray of Browns Flat, NB, wife of David Rattray occurred on December 17, 2002 at her residence. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Louis and Gertrude (Jenkins) McLellan. Mrs. Rattray was employed in the Management Department at Sears for 6 years, then Star joined the Management team of Tower's Department Store for 22 years, until her retirement. She was very involved with self-support groups, and in her earlier years, Star was involved with the “Majorettes” in Saint John, and modeling projects. She is survived by one son, James Hawkins (Catherine), and one daughter, Katherine Howe (David), both of Saint John, nine brothers, William Power of Edmonton, AB, Terry Power, Murray Power, Wesley McLellan, Gene McLellan, Lance McLellan, Kim McLellan, Louis McLellan and Richard McLellan all of Saint John, five sisters, Mary Ellen, Carol, Patricia, Lois, and Marney, all of Saint John, seven grandchildren, Kyle, Vanessa, Chris, Katlin, and Madison Howe, and Kevin and Krystal Hawkins, one great-grand-daughter, Keisha, two uncles, Kenneth Williamson of Nova Scotia, James Williamson of Ontario and one aunt, Constance Collins (David), as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her son, Kevin Hawkins, and her brother, Joseph Power. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506) 634-7424, with visitation on Wednesday 7-9 PM and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 20, 2002 at 1:30 PM. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
