Obituary of Ruth Catherine Chandler
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ruth Catherine Chandler, loving wife of the late David Chandler, announce her passing on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton. Born in Saint John on July 12, 1938, she was a daughter of the late John and Ruth (Turner) Shannon.
In her earlier years, Ruthie worked at the Moncton Airport, Saint John Drydock, Red Rose Tea and Canuck Pottery. She loved her times camping and also enjoyed bingo, darts and knitting. Most of all she treasured the times spent with her family and especially cherished the moments with her grandchildren.
Ruthie will be lovingly remembered by her sons, David Chandler (Wanda) of Moncton and Jimmy Chandler of Saint John; daughters, Patty Chandler of Ontario, Lynn Gillespie (Wayne), Tina Chandler (Bobby) and Andrea, all of Saint John; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family. In addition to her husband and parents, Ruthie was also predeceased by her sister, Carole; brothers, Bobby and Johnny and grandson, David.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 12:00 PM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue or a charity of the donor’s choice.
