Obituary of John Albert Kimball

It is with great sadness that the family of John Albert Kimball announces his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 23, 2018. Born in Saint John, N.B., on September 14, 1934, he was the son of the late James and Kathleen (Pike) Kimball. John will be deeply missed by his loving wife and soul mate of 42 years, Suzanne (Skeldon) and loving sons Robert (Theresa), Steve (Joanne), Grant (Kathi), Jay (Diane) and daughter Suzanne (Chris). John is also survived by his brother Robert (Janet) and his sister Peggy. Grandchildren Robert (Melissa), John (Shannon), Katie (Drew) and Corey (Jessica), as well as six great grandchildren. Also left to mourn are sister in laws Karen of Wickham, N.B., Nancy (Klaas) of San Diego, CA, and Angela of Rothesay, N.B, and niece Jocelyn and nephew Ryan. Nephews Jamie and David and niece Sherri. John wanted to thank his first wife Betty for giving him five wonderful and successful children. John started his insurance career at Angus Miller in 1955, becoming President in 1973. His career spanned over 50 years, during which his drive and love of business was evident in everything he did, including purchasing Pearson Insurance of Sussex in 1981 and starting Kimball Travel in Saint John in 1984. Outside of Angus Miller, John’s accomplishments include Past President of the Saint John YMCA, Past Treasurer of the Insurance Brokers Association of New Brunswick, Past President of the New Brunswick Blue Goose, original member of the Bi-Capital Theatre Project, member of the Saint Mary’s Band and boss of the year presented by the Saint John Insurance Women’s Association in 1995. John had a business motto – "Always be truthful and show respect." John was an avid skier and golfer and world traveler, having visited every continent over a 40 year span. Until two months ago, he was enjoying his winters in Florida, attending many live concerts and dining out with mutual friends. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). To honour John’s request, there will be no funeral home visitation or service. There will be a celebration of a life well lived at the Riverside Country Club on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 from 3-5 PM.
