Obituary of David Ronald Callaghan
The death of David Ronald Callaghan, husband of Kathleen (Burgess) Callaghan, occurred on August 10, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Ronald G. and Agnes G. (Kelly) Callaghan. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force before joining the Saint John Fire Department retiring as Captain after 30 years service. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 64, volunteered with the Friends of St. Joseph's and was an avid Saint John Flames fan. He was active in Taoist Tai Chi. In his youth he was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters Katherine and her husband Brad Melanson of Quispamsis, Allyson Stack and her husband Gerald Stack of Quispamsis, his sisters Ann and her husband Mel Patriquen of Quispamsis, Claire and her husband Arthur McGuire of Saint John, Mary Lou and her husband Kevin Smith of Saint John, his grandchildren Ryan and Rebecca Melanson and Joshua and Lauren Stack, his aunt Sister Nora Kelly SCIC of Saint John, and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 14, 2003, at 12 NOON, from Holy Trinity Church. Following cremation interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
