Obituary of Donald Vaughan Titus

The death of Donald Vaughan Titus, of Vey Court, Saint John East, husband of Frances Isabelle (Cox) Titus, occurred on Monday April 26, 2004. Born in Saint John, April 26, 1919, he was the son of the late Clifford and Ada (Crandall) Titus. Donald was a member of Saint James Anglican Church Lakewood, and a former lay reader, chapel warden and choir member. He worked as a Foreman for Wolfe Stevedores Co. and was a member of I.L.A. Local 253; he also was co-owner of Titus Grocery Store, Lakewood. Donald volunteered at Meals-on-Wheels, along with being a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2, serving with the army service corps during war time. In his spare time he enjoyed flying and was a member of the Saint John Flying Club. Camping and fishing were other activities Donald loved to do. Besides his wife Donald is survived by one son Donald of Saint John; four brothers Robert (Oriole) of Westfield, Roy (Gerry) of New Glasgow, Earl (Doris) of Ketepec, and Wayne (Patricia) of Morrisdale; one sister Patricia (Percy) Perrin of Grand Bay; sisters-in-law Marguerite Titus and Thelma Titus; six grandchildren: Christine Evans, Norma Little, Jerry Chiasson, Paula, Jason and Michael Titus, and ten great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by one son Danny, one granddaughter Jennifer Titus, two brothers Lloyd and Melvin and one sister, Ruth. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday 7-9 pm and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday April 30, 2004 at Saint James Anglican Church Lakewood at 11am. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Garden following the service. Remembrances may be made to the Romero House or the charity of the donor's choice.
