Obituary of James Wilson Speight
The death of James W. “Jim” Speight, husband of Sheila (Leaman) Speight, of Midwood Ave., occurred on March 7, 2004, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Redvers and Myrtle (Munroe) Speight. He was a veteran of WW II and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Jervis Bay. He served with the Corps of Commissionaires until his retirement. Besides his wife he is survived by his sons James (Vicky) of Saint John, Charles (Mary Ann) of Saint John, Robert (Donya) of Saint John, Stephen of British Columbia, his daughters Sheila of Saint John, Susan at home, Myrtle (Brian Pollock) of Quispamsis, his brother Redvers Jr. (Mary) of Saint John, his many grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. His sons Edward and John, brother Bill and sister Gladys Saunders predeceased him. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The royal Canadian Legion will hold a Tribute to a Veteran Service on Wednesday at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 12, 2004, at 11:30 AM, from Brenan's Chapel. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
