Obituary of James W. Murphy

The death of James W. Murphy, 59, occurred on Sunday, August 8, 2004 at his home in Saint John, NB following a brief illness. Jim was born in Saint John in 1944 a son of the late Frank and Bertha (Greer) Murphy. Jim spent most of his career as a broadcaster with CHSJ and the CBC; more recently, he was privileged to work with the Public Utilities Board. He is survived by his wife, Susan Lambert; his son, James Leo Murphy; two sisters, Carol (Rick) Lord of Bridgewater, NS and Frances (Tom) Clancy of Mississauga, ON; his brother, Gerald Murphy of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 The family will welcome friends at home on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 from 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at Brenan's Chapel on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at 1:00 pm. A private interment service will take place on Deer Island, NB. For those who wish, donations to the Saint John Free Public Library would be appreciated by the family.
