PERRY, ELLA JEAN ? 93, of Saint John West (Randolph) died on April 4, 2005, at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a short illness, with family at her bedside. She was the daughter of Clifford and Odessa (Kent) Rhind of Elderbank, NS, and widow of Gordon Perry. She is survived by daughter, Jean, of Dartmouth, NS, and son, Robert (Ann), Rothesay, NB; granddaughter, Gina (Danny), grandsons Marc (Stacey), Tim (Carolyn) all of Dartmouth; David and Sean of Rothesay; great grandchildren, Olivia, Tyra, Mekhi, Aliyah and Jazmine, all of Dartmouth; brothers Harold (Margaret) Ontario, Robert (Beatrice) Lunenburg and sisters Hattie McMullin, Ontario and Ethel Fraser, Hardwoodlands, NS, and many cousins, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon, in 1961, and her siblings Neil, Carl, Roy, Nellie, Clara, Florence, Ada, and Lou. Growing up on a farm in Elderbank, Ella had an amazing life, teaching in one-room rural Nova Scotia schools for 15 years, serving her country during WWII as a corporal in the Air Force, Woman's Corps, stationed overseas in Newfoundland, then raising her children after returning to her teaching profession in Saint John at Beaconsfield, Seawood, Milford and Barnhill schools. Ella was an honoured member of the Randolph Seniors, Royal Canadian Legion and St. Mark's United Church. Formerly an avid gardener, this extraordinary lady lived alone in her home over the past years despite coping with blindness. A friend to all and a great listener, Ella was noted for her great sense of humour and generosity. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 7-9 pm and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2005, at 1:00 pm, from Brenans Chapel. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), or the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated.
