Obituary of R. Stuart Dobbin
The death of R. Stuart Dobbin of Gondola Point Road, husband of Ruth (Beaman) Dobbin, occurred on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Fairvale, NB, he was the son of John and Alexie (Horsnell) Dobbin. Stuart had served in World War II, was a Past President of Association of New Brunswick Land Surveyors, Past Master of The New Brunswick Lodge No. 22 Free and Accepted Masons. He was a life member of the Rothesay Yacht Club and a member of the Martinon Yacht Club. Stuart was best known for his passion for sailing and shared his love of the river with many friends and family. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons James (Pamela) Dobbin of Bridgetown, NS, Robert (Diane) of Quispamsis, NB, one daughter Linda Stilwell of Renforth, NB, one sister Margaret Dobbin of Sussex Corner, ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by one brother, Murray Dobbin. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, May 20 from 7-9 pm and Friday, May 21 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The New Brunswick Lodge No. 22 will be holding a Masonic Service on Friday, May 21 at 7:00 pm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2004 from St. Paul's Anglican Church Rothesay at 2:00 pm. Interment will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saint John and the Canadian Cancer Society.
