Obituary of Sherwin N. MacBurnie
The death of Sherwin Norman MacBurnie of Saint John East, husband of Carol (Murphy) MacBurnie, occurred on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Sherwin was born at Port Lorne, Nova Scotia, son of the late Norman and Louisa (Lewis) MacBurnie, and was a resident of Saint John most of his life; former member of Central Baptist Church and was a member of the Central Baptist Basketball Team which played in the Saint John Church League for many years. He was employed as refractory sales manager for C. & E. Refractories; he was an avid hockey fan and loved spending time with his family. Surviving besides his wife, Carol, his son, Sherwin Jr. (Deanne) of Browns Flat; Jamie (Roxy) of Red Deer, Alberta; Kevin Corbett of Grand Bay-Westfield; daughters, Heather Burdon (Jon) of Red Deer, Alberta; Sharon Valardo (Joseph) of Grand Bay-Westfield; Kim Winters (Scott), Baxter's Corner; Sherry Garnett (Brian) of Willow Grove; one brother, Clifford (Joye) of Cambridge Narrows; sisters, Marion Bubb (Blaine) of Saint John and Vivian McFarlane of Victoria, BC; fourteen grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Predeceased by a grandson, Andrew Jason MacBurnie. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Thursday, March 17, 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from Brenan's chapel on Friday, March 18 at 11:00 am. Following cremation, interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan or to a charity of the donor's choice.
