Obituary of Ronald Davenport Shiels
The death of Captain Ronald Davenport Shiels, loving husband of Anne Marie (Wilson) Shiels, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, June 10, 2004. Born in Saint John he was the eldest son of the late Thomas H. and Alice (Morris) Shiels. Captain Shiels served with the Merchant Marine during World War 11 and then with the Canadian Coast Guard retiring as District Manager after 35 years of service. He is survived by one son Keith T. Shiels (Judith), Saint John, NB, two daughters Charlene Quapp (Manfred), Saint John, NB, Karen Shiels, Saint John, NB, one brother Edward Shiels, Saint John, NB, two sisters Ruth Squires (Robert), Saint John, NB, and Dorothy Breen, Saint John, NB, three granddaughters, one grandson and two great grandsons. Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424) in charge of arrangements. Invoking the Captains wishes there will be no visitation or memorial service. Following cremation interment will take place in the Loyalist Cemetery, Harding's Point, NB. Remembrances in lieu of flowers for Captain Shiels may be made to the War Amps, Champ Program, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society, or donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
