Obituary of Helen Margaret Miller

It is with sadness that the family announces the death of Helen Miller on Saturday, September 4, 2004, at the Carleton-Kirk Lodge. The wife of the late G. Grant Miller and daughter of Albert and Mary Josselyn, Helen was born on October 7, 1911 and grew up in Silver Falls. Helen began her teaching career in Saint John, married Grant in 1936 and moved to Halifax in 1941 where she raised two children, taught part time and was an active member of St. John's United Church and the IODE. The family returned to Saint John in 1956 and Helen continued her teaching career at Woodlawn, Havelock and Forest Hills Schools. Helen was a volunteer for Reach for Recovery for over 10 years. She was a past executive member of the Council of Women and an Elder and UCW member at Centenary Queen Square United Church and later attended Carleton-Kirk. Helen lived a full life and was a dedicated wife, mother, teacher and loyal New Brunswicker. She will be remembered with love by her children, Carolyn Blakeley and her husband St. John of Oakville, ON and Paul Miller of Saint John. Also by her brother Eric Josselyn, sister-in-law Norma, sister-in-law Muriel Josselyn, brother-in-law Barrie Miller and his wife Jessie of Halifax and by Jean Miller. Also by her four grand daughters, nine great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by one brother, Stuart Josselyn. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 10, 2004 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial tributes to Hestia House, the Saint John Alzheimer's Society or the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
