Obituary of Veronica Cecilia Durick
Durick, “Bunny” Veronica Cecilia … (May 26, 1909 … April 26, 2007) Bunny passed away peacefully, with family members at her side, on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at her residence, Rocmaura Nursing Home, Saint John, NB. Born in Mispec, NB a daughter of the late John and Marie Elizabeth (Carroll) Steele. Her early years were spent in Saint John with fond memories and stories of Harrison Street and skating and swimming at Lily Lake. Bunny resided in Bains Corner after her marriage to Gerard Durick following WWII; together they raised two daughters: Carole Frances (Paul) Renshaw of Leduc, AB and Margaret Veronica (Clint) Murphy of Saint John. A proud member of the Women’s Institute, an Auxiliary Member of the RCL and longtime employee at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Bunny loved to be active and had a zest for life, she had a special fondness for animals, knitting and playing bingo; but her greatest love was for her family, especially her husband, Jerry and only grandson, Brent Murphy. Survived by her two daughters, grandson and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Jerry Durick; thirteen brothers and sisters, including: sisters, Elizabeth Dwyer, Geraldine O’Leary, Grace Hart; brothers, Jack, Arthur, Harry, Gerald; infant brothers and sisters. Bunny was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. William’s Church, St. Martins on Monday, April 30, 2007 at 11 am. Interment will be in St. William’s Parish Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
