Obituary of Martha Leona Middleton
Middleton, Martha Leona (March 5, 1936-February 26, 2008) After a heroic battle with cancer Martha Leona Middleton, daughter of the late Reg and Maude Brothers, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Martha was an employee of the former Admiral Beatty Hotel and retired from Sears Canada in their shipping and receiving department. Martha was well known throughout the city for her amazing singing voice and was the Worship Team Leader at Crescent Valley Gospel Center, her home church for over 25 years. Many will remember her as part of a group that used to visit the Saint John County Jail on Saturday nights to sing and pray with the inmates. Still others will remember her and her home as a place to find love, refuge, and a word about God and his love. She is survived by her husband of 51 years Leroy Middleton, her six children Deborah Lynn (Anthony) Dungy of Mississauga, William (Geneva) Brown of Saint John, Belinda McKinnon of Saint John, Moreena of Saint John, Misty (Barry Green) of Grand Manan, and Raylene (David) Masocoto of Fredericton. She was predeceased by daughter Leta-Anna. She loved and was loved by her grandchildren Jody, Jolynda, Tasha, Anthony Jr., Anna, Shakira, Jordan, Greyson, Dwanti, Azure, Justtus, Jhkara and Ramses. She had 10 great-grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews. She had a massive extended family that are just to numerous to list. Resting at Crescent Valley Gospel Center, Somerset Street, with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be on Friday, at 2:00 pm, from the church. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances made to the Coverdale Centre for Women, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Building Fund, Crescent Valley Gospel Center would be appreciated.
