Obituary of Hazel Grace McInnis
McInnis, Hazel Grace … The death of Hazel Grace McInnis (nee Kincade) of Saint John, NB, formerly of 221 Ellerdale St. and Courtenay Ave., wife of the late Ernest Daniel McInnis, occurred on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a period of failing health. Born in Saint John on October 6, 1912, she was a daughter of the late George Kincade and Elizabeth (Patterson) Kincade-Jenner. Hazel resided for over sixty years in East Saint John. In her earlier years she worked at the Palm Gardens and Federal Store. For more than thirty-five years she was employed by the Holtzman family at the Sun-Ray Fruit Store and Moe’s Fruit Mart on Waterloo Street. She retired from working at the age of seventy-three. Hazel enjoyed people and lived life to the fullest keeping her sense of humour right until the end and maintained independent living until the age of ninety-four. Survived by her son, Harold and daughter-in-law, Ann of Saint John; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Ernest in 1992; a brother, Harold; and four sisters: Nellie, Lottie, Bessie and Dolly; she is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Thursday from 7-9 pm and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 10 am. Interment will be in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to any charity of choice. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Susan Gray and the staff of 3BS SJRH (who became like family to Hazel, her son and daughter-in-law); in particular, thanks to Ruth, Karen, Deanna, Ann-Marie, Brenda, Patrick, Doris, Sherry, Joyce, Lorraine, Susan, Joan and Loreen for their care and support, which will be forever appreciated and never forgotten. Thanks also to her special friends, Gladys, Genevieve and Donna, forever grateful for being there.
