Obituary of Angus J. MacVicar
Angus John MacVicar died at the Turnbull Nursing Home, Saint John on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at the age of 99. Born in West Saint John to the late Lachlan and Florence MacVicar, he was the last surviving child of eight. Married 57 years, he was predeceased by his wife, Grace W. (Anthony) MacVicar; and by his younger daughter, Kathryn. He is survived by daughter Janet (Montreal) and son John (Salmon Arm, BC) and by several nieces and nephews. Having served in the RCAF during WW II, Angus worked until retirement at CPR Bayshore roundhouse. He was active for 70 years in the Oddfellows Lodge, and served his community in various volunteer capacities. He lived the greater part of his life in the west side/Lancaster and was a long devoted member of the Carleton-Kirk United Church. Funeral service will be held at Carleton-Kirk United Church on Monday, August 13, 2007 with vistitation at the church from 2:00 pm until service time at 3:00 pm. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances to the charity of the donors’ choice would be apprecaited. Arrangements under the direction of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
