Obituary of Gerard J. Chiasson
Chiasson, Gerard J. … It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gerard “Gerry” Joseph Chiasson, of Saint John, NB, husband of Armantine “Doris” (Paulin) Chiasson, occurred on Friday, August 31st, 2007, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on October 15, 1922 in Caraquet, NB, he was a son of the late Daniel and Mary Ann (Hebert) Chiasson. Gerry was stationed in England during World War II with the Les Chaudieres. He was a member of St. Pius X Church, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #64, the Carpenters Union Local 1386, and a 4th Degree with the Knights of Columbus. He had a great love of the water and enjoyed, fishing, boating, bowling and loved puttering in “ The Shop”. He was employed as a carpenter with R.A. Wood Construction at the time of his retirement. Besides his wife, Gerry is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Chiasson of Saint John; two sons, Christian (Cindy) and Michael (Suzanne) of Calgary; five sisters, Matilda Rouillard of Quebec, Mary Guignard of Quispamsis, Patricia Paulin, Delicia Orr, Simonne “Jeannie” Riley all of Saint John; five grandchildren, Michael Cole, David Cole, Christian Chiasson, Emily Chiasson and Jillian Chiasson, several nieces and nephews, two special companions, Kitty and Missy. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Pauline Thibodeau, Germaine Racicot, two brothers, Patrick and Sylvan. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424, with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church on Tuesday, September 4th, 2007 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association. There will be a Royal Canadian Legion Tribute on Monday at 7:00 pm, followed by a Knights of Columbus service at 7:30 pm.
